On
Wednesday (October 14), we took a trip out to Zhoukoudian Province to the
Peking Man excavation site and Museum!
The
Museum
It was
about an hour drive outside of Beijing. We started off the museum trip with a
4D cgi movie recreating the “life” of the peking man. The theater was recreated
to look like a cave and we had to strap into our seats to watch the movie
(which was a bit disconcerting).

Theater
The film had very quality translations, with
gems like the baby cavegirl saying “scream and crying is nirvana” and weird
references to volcanos in relation to the cavemother.
We then
walked around the excavation site, which involved looking into a lot of caves.
Caves
There
were a lot of statues of the prehistoric animals, and my roommate and I got
photos riding each of them.
I don’t
think I will ever be any cooler than this picture of me riding a Sabertooth
Tiger.
